Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account information. Your email address and authentication credentials, managed through our authentication provider. We never see or store your password in plain text.
• Content you submit. Video files you upload, or URLs you paste for us to fetch, along with the options you choose (target language, voice description, subtitle and audio settings).
• Derived media. The transcripts, translations, subtitle files, synthesized audio, and dubbed videos we generate from your content.
• Chat messages. Questions you ask about a video and the answers we return.
• Usage and technical data. Basic logs needed to run the service and enforce quotas — request times, job status, and error diagnostics.

How we use your information

• To transcribe, translate, voice, and render your videos.
• To answer your questions about a video you have processed.
• To operate your account, enforce usage quotas, and prevent abuse.
• To diagnose errors and improve the reliability of the service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your videos to train our own models.

Service providers we share content with

Translating and chatting with a video requires sending its audio, transcript, and sampled frames to specialized AI providers. We share only what each step needs:

• Cloud hosting & storage — to run the application and store your media and account records.
• Speech-to-text providers — to transcribe the original audio.
• Translation & language-model providers — to translate segments and to ground answers when you chat with a video.
• Text-to-speech providers — to synthesize the translated voiceover.

These providers process your content on our behalf under their own terms and data-processing commitments. We choose providers that do not use submitted content to train their models where that option is available to us.

Retention and deletion

Website items sync only their source metadata by default. A video file is stored in cloud object storage only after you explicitly choose Sync video to cloud in the Mac app; the Web app does not stream or play it. Deleting your account removes associated account records and media, subject to rolling backup and log retention.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or by contacting us at the address below.

Security

We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, scoped access tokens, and time-limited signed URLs for media — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can access it.

Children

Vibabel is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
